Eat. Stay. Play.
Macon is a bustling city full of growth and renovation! We are proud to boast two of the most exciting entertainment venues in the state—the Macon Coliseum and the Macon City Auditorium. In addition to our events, there are plenty of dining opportunities, cozy places to stay, and attractions to visit.
Our city boasts over 200 palate-pleasing restaurants! From seafood to burgers, you can’t go wrong with any of Macon’s dining opportunities. We suggest the hole-in-the-wall restaurant The Rookery for burgers and milkshakes, Kudzu Seafood to satisfy your fishy fix, and Kinjo Kitchen + Cocktails for Asian-inspired comfort food.
If you’re wanting homemade buffet-style food, visit The Bear’s Den near Mercer University. Are you in the mood for high-quality Mexican food? Look no further than Tzangos. More restaurants are right around the corner!
There is a plethora of hotels to choose from in and around downtown Macon. We recommend the newly opened boutique hotel, Hotel Forty Five, across the street from the Macon City Auditorium, the Marriott or the Hilton Garden Inn while you enjoy your stay in one of Georgia’s largest cities. When you’re not relaxing in your hotel room, be sure to visit our shopping venues for souvenirs and gifts alike.
Places to See
Macon has more historical sites on the National Register of Historic Places than any other city in Georgia. There are museums galore, including the Museum of Arts and Sciences, the Harriet Tubman African American Museum, and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Museum.
Macon holds seasonal activities, such as the Cherry Blossom Festival, which is rated one of the 20 best festivals in the Southeast and is held every spring. Mercer University football kicks off every fall and, in the winter, you can cheer on Macon’s professional hockey team, The Macon Mayhem. And that’s just scratching the surface.
